I am a writer. My most recent novel is THIS SHARED DREAM (Tor, 2011). ANGELS AND YOU DOGS (PS Publishing 2012) is a collection of short work. QUEEN CITY JAZZ (a New York Times Notable Book), THE BONES OF TIME (Arthur C. Clarke Award finalist), MISSISSIPPI BLUES (Darrell Lifetime Achievement Award), CRESCENT CITY RHAPSODY (Nebula finalist), LIGHT MUSIC (Nebula finalist), IN WAR TIMES (Campbell Award Winner, and ALA's Best SF Novel of 2007.
I am also a Professor of the Practice in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. I teach the art of writing fiction, and also courses about the ever-moving liminal that includes literatures of all kinds, science, and technology.
My latest published story is "Bootstrap" in MIT's TWELVE TOMORROWS (September 2013). Forthcoming stories include "Sport" (ARC, a NEW SCIENTIST publication), "What Are We? Where Do We Come From? Where Are We Going?" (Tor.com, 2014), and "Girl in Wave, Wave in Girl" (HEIROGLYPH Anthology, HarperCollins, 2014).
